Two Linux consortia band together
OSDL is no more - now it’s the Linux Foundation. Bucking the recent trend of organizations dropping “Linux” in favor of the more general “Free” and “Open Source” descriptors (such as LinuxWorld Magazine > Enterprise Open Source), here, they went the opposite way, dropping OS from OSDL and Free from the Free Standards Group to come up with the Linux Foundation.
Aras Delivers Microsoft-Based Open Source Enterprise Solutions
Tail wagging the dog? As Open Source alternatives eat away at proprietary, and sometimes Microsoft-orbiting, company’s positions, will announcements like this one from Aras become more commonplace? I think yes. Will Microsoft’s ecosystem partners set the pace for Microsoft’s own embrace of Open Source? Hmmm… one to ponder
