Zenoss Enterprise Edition 2.0 Is Here

When we started distributing Zenoss Core we put 100% of our effort into making Zenoss the best standalone monitoring and management platform we could. We believe we have done a great job. No matter what, Zenoss Core will always be fully functional, no crippleware.

In our Zenoss Core 2.0 release we introduced the new concept of the Zenpack. Zenpacks are extensions for helping to monitor and extend Zenoss Core. Any user can write a Zenpack, we distribute GPL Zenpacks as well, and our partners can write and resell commercial Zenpacks. Bottom line, you write the Zenpack you choose the license.

So why I am explaining all of this? Because I want to try to avoid any confusion. Today is the release of our Zenoss Enterprise 2.0 Subscription which includes new levels of customer support and certified commercial Zenpacks for monitoring your Windows environment. Other features include Synthetic Transaction Authoring and Monitoring for Web Apps, and an Enterprise Report library (all delivered in Zenpack format) Plus we provide the capabilities to easily create a global dashboard for multiple instances of Zenoss.

There is no reason why you can’t monitor Windows servers with Zenoss Core it’s just that our enterprise subscribers get the pre-defined monitors, reports and other amenities to more quickly and easily monitor their Windows infrastructure. These additions are customer shared source, so customers can modify and view the source but they aren’t redistributable.

This is simply our business model, because as the guys from Delta said Animal House,” We need the dues.” We aren’t greedy though, here’s a shot of the Zenoss team working on product release and website stuff. Notice we stuff seven people in this office (it measures about 13′x14′).

So while we think that our Enterprise Subscription is well worth the money, have a heart and help us make a little scratch so Rusty and I don’t have share a desk anymore ;)
