Zenoss Core 2.1 marks a significant update for many areas of Zenoss Core, including overall look and feel, back-end performance enhancements and added functionality. This beta release will have only critical bug fixes before the final release target of October 18th.  Please help us out by testing aggressively!

Please report all issues you find with the release to the zenoss-users forum or to the mailing list (zenoss-users@zenoss.org) and please include the word “BETA” in the subject line.

The Zenoss 2.1 Beta release 2.0.92 includes a few enhancements as well as many minor fixes detailed below:

UI

• Dashboard, Network Map, and Google Maps now fully compatible with IE7
• Fixed a Google Maps bug the prevented links from to rendering properly.
• Clean up UI of zPropOverridden (r6823)
• Checkboxes now clickable on Admnistered Object page (r6942)
• Group Manager UI added, managing and admin pages of groups  (r6822)
• Fixed Add Administrators menu item (as well as Delete and Save) on DeviceOrganizers (2088)
• Re-added Run commands menu to OS tab of device (2061)

GRAPHING AND REPORTS

• Resequencing of graphs in GraphReports works again (2028)
• Added edit page for Multi-Graph Report Collection items (2063)
• User can select multiple Devices and Components when editing GraphReports (2064)
• GraphReports and Multi-Graph Reports can be displayed in 1, 2 or 3 columns (2062)
• Displaying component names instead of paths in Multi-Graph collections (2068)
• GraphDefinitionsAndFriends migrate step gives better error message when a required zenpack is missing (2085)
• Legend field in some GraphPoint types allows TALES expressions for better labeling of data in graphs (2065)

ZENMODLER

• Allows ZenModeler to be tied to a performance monitor’s device list. (2071)

OTHER FIXES

• Allow “begins with” and “does not begins with” criteria for Device Class in alert rules (1716)
• Manufacturers (now in manufacturers)  (not at dmd root) on initial load of dmd (2044)
• Zenoss startup script enhancements (1059)
• Renamed getLink to urlLink (2049)
• You can now use of SSH public-key authentication with a passphrased key. zCommandPassword will be used for the key’s passphrase if available. (2074)
• Corrected zencommand and zenperfsnmp not setting the manager attribute on the events they generate (2070)
• Added Disk I/O Collector Plug-in/Template to monitor the reads and writes of the various disk segments.(1267)
• Corrected the Heartbeat timeout setting for RRDDaemons (2060)
• Added creation of Group Manager to zenbuild (2082)
• ZenStatus now polls just the devices it is assigned to monitor instead of all devices. (2083)
• All zensendevent to set the eventClassKey.

APPLIANCE

• ZenJMX and JRE install instructions, added new troves to rbuilder (r6940)
• Added epydoc link on software appliance’s recipe (1942)
• Added libexec link on software appliance’s recipe (1968)
• New troves added to appliance: tcpdump, man, lynx, telnet, traceroute
• MySQL-python trove updated with “reconnect” patch

DOCUMENTATION

• Converted Administrator Guide to DocBook
• Began improvement of API documentation
• Enhanced testing framework with new Docstring tests
• Daemons can generate Docbook output of command switches (1992)
